I’m having a party in my party room in my apartment (holds about 30 ppl) and I’m wanting to do a rock themed party because I love rock and heavy metal music! I’m gonna have black lights and strobe lights as well. My b-day is in October. I need ideas of activities and ways to decorate the room that’s inexpensive. I was hopeing to make the room look like we’re at a concert but I’m not sure how to go about it?
Play concert films on your TV, perhaps set up some strobe lights and dim your regular lights (you don’t want people bumping into stuff). Hand out mix CD’s as a party favor, perhaps have Guitar Hero or Rock Band tournaments. Have rock trivia games, too!
Have fun!

in a coliseum rock concert, i understand that sound produced by the instruments and the singer bounces around the coliseum and then to the person’s ear, making the sound quality much better as to if the concert were placed in an open area, where no sound bouncing occurs, and the music simply travels everywhere. how does this work - can anyone explain it through physics? (for both closed-venue concerts and open concerts)
In an outdoor venue, no matter how carefully you place the speakers, a lot of sound will go to places where there’s no one to hear. So, right off the bat, you lose energy.
In an indoor venue, you can design the acoustics not only to capture all that energy and reflect it back (so louder music for the same energy investment), but the slight delays caused by the music either coming directly to the ear or bouncing off a wall first makes the sound richer, spreading out the notes just a tiny bit.

"The Monterey Pop Festival is the first great rock concert documentary by the filmmaker who invented the form. D.A. Pennebaker (who teamed up with Richard Leacock, Albert Maysles, and other filmmakers here), fresh off his Bob Dylan documentary, Don’t Look Back, captured the music and scene of the first real rock & roll festival. The Monterey Pop Festival of 1967, which laid the groundwork for Woodstock two years later, offered an amazing array of talent that was absolutely of that moment. And, as the intervening years have shown, this music stood the test of time: from the young Janis Joplin blowing the crowd away with "Ball and Chain" to an instrument-smashing performance by the Who to the surprisingly soul-stirring showing by Otis Redding. One particular highlight: the American debut of a little-known rock trio called the Jimi Hendrix Experience, which knocked the crowd out of its seats with a guitar sound that had never been heard before–and culminated with Hendrix setting his guitar ablaze and worshipping the flaming feedback"
I assembled a bunch of youtubes of grand funk performances (and a couple whole dvds) onto a 4 dvd set
i never thought i’d get to see those guys play live
but i finally did

Yes, Nirvana made a new brand of rock the thing in the 90s. Is that why the 90s were NOT as good for rock as the 80s?
Country was the biggest genera of the 90s. Garth sold the most albums and Shania had the decade’s top selling record.
Explain yourself a bit, please.

At all the green day concerts so far on their 21st century breakdown tour, have they performed Jesus of suburbia. It seems like the bit where billy joe lets an audience member plays his guitar happens every concert. Is it always jesus of Suburbia that he gets an audience member to play?
Thanx in Advance
I’m sure they would. They got people to play Knowledge at my concert.. please tell me you DO actually know that song.

I’m an unknown singer/songwriter and i sing mostly punk and upbeat music. At punk concerts like, for instance, Green Day, they’ve got a huge audience who is going crazy about seeing them live. In my case, it’ll usually be little group who’s never heard of me before. So the question is, how am i supposed to be a punk singer, when im performing in this situation?
thank you so much, and i’ll be doling out a generous amount of points for good answers.
xx
you have to build a following first. greenday didnt start out playing at madison square garden. they once had small audiences at local clubs. the ramones almost always played to small audiences at places like cbgb’s. a true punk, which ill assume you are, shouldnt care about being known. logically, no one is going to know you when you are unknown. play at a place with dedicated people who show up to all the shows. then, youll have a guarnteed audience. a punk puts a helluva lot of energy into a performance. play your heart out, and people will want to see you again, and some might even bring some friends.
unrelated but you dont decide how many points someone gets for answers.

When you go to a concert, does the band just play songs from their newer album or a mix of new and old songs?
A combination of both.
Example, I went to a Jonas Brothers concert yesterday and they played songs from all of their albums.

my friend loves music, but refuses to go to any concert with me because she complains that the music hurts her ears. What earplugs are good for me to get her so that she can still hear clearly everything that’s going on but with less volume?
try the following:

I mean…..
When you see 10 year old kids go to AC/DC concerts…could that atract them to start learning how to play the guitar or drums or any rock n roll istrument.
i am with PinkZeppelin11…btw, if you wanna hear today`s genius give a listen to The Mars Volta, Buckethead, Gojira, Meshuggah…these guys are pushing the boundaries of music and setting the bar way up high…AC/DC altho a great band is a bit too simplistic compared to today`s fast evolving music…I AM NOT talking about MTV+Disney however…
Giraffes?Giraffes!, Sleeping People, The Dillinger Escape Plan……..
