Brian McKnight - I’ll Be Home for Christmas

Aretha Franklin - (Borders cd) This Christmas, Aretha

While there’s probably no Christmas album this year that is as anticipated as was last year’s Josh Groban Christmas cd Noel (although Josh does appear on Brian McKnight’s holiday cd), there’s definitely some interesting choices. Elvis’s Christmas Duets attempts to refashion the King’s Xmas music by having country singers sing along side his originals; Faith Hill’s Christmas album may surprise many of her fans with it’s big-band format; Tony Bennett, Harry Connick & Brian Setzer’s collections are perfect for those who like a bit of swing with their holiday music; Los Lonely Boys bring their blend of Latino folk and rock to the season; Aretha Franklin’s soulful holiday cd is surprisingly her first; and in one of the oddest comebacks, the Archies return with a holiday album, even subtitling their album “featuring Betty & Veronica” just to clarify that, yes, it’s those Archies. All in all, not a bad lineup of holiday music for 2008.

What a joy to be able to sing the lyrics to my favorite songs. Thanks for all your efforts and posting them on the net…I just love to cuddle up by the fire with my mug of egg nogg and listen to Axl Rose singing George Strait - Classic Christmas (yeah…he really did it)…Here’s a link to a bunch of good
