According to the International Campaign for Tibet there are over 131,000 Tibetan refugees in over 6 countries around the world. India is host to over 110,000 of these refugees. One camp, known as Mainpat, in the state of Chhattisgarh, is particularly remote and hard to reach for relief organizations. As a consequence, the health conditions of these refugees are especially dire.
Sedona acupuncturists Sig and Sarah Hauer are leading an international effort to raise awareness and money around the health conditions of the refugee Tibetan population. Their project focuses on providing health services, and health education including the construction of a permanent clinic at the Mainpat refugee camp. They have formed a tax-exempt, non-profit organization called the Tibetans in Exile Health Project (TIEHP) to channel giving to this growing refugee population.
On Friday, March 13, 2009 in Sedona, Arizona, Vibhas Kendzia will be giving a benefit concert for the Tibetans in Exile Health Project. The concert will be held at the Sedona Creative Life Center, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Join Vibhas and his friends for an evening of music, multi-media presentations and a silent auction. The silent auction includes art from reknowned Sedona artists and treatments from healing professionals. The community has come together to help raise money for this important project.
